Yosemite National Park

We met friends, Mike and Irene, for a couple days at the Thousand Trails campground outside of Yosemite National Park. They took us to see much of the park and then had to leave. We spent a couple more days exploring on our own. Wow, quite the views in that park; glad we were not driving the motorhome through some of those tunnels! We saw Half Dome from Glacier point, Yosemite Falls (dry), El Capitan, Bridalveil Falls, the lodge, climbers on the rocks and Tioga Pass... Great Fun.

Grants Pass and Lodi CA

We headed south to Grants Pass to have a steering stabilizer installed at Henderson's Line Up. Good group of people there. If you need RV suspension work done, give them a call.  We then left for California towards Yosemite National Park.  We stayed at a less than remarkable RV park near Lake Shasta and then fired up the motorhome and headed south.
We stopped and spent a couple days at the Lodi Elks before heading to Yosemite National Park to meet friends Mike and Irene. We explored some wineries and local eats and then left. Found out later we had friends who live there. Darn, it would have been fun to spend time with them there.

Chris found this little Mexican restaurant on Trip Advisor. 5 stars! Chris had carnitas tacos and I had asada fries. Think of nachos using french fries instead of chips.

Portland goodbyes

We had time to go to Portland to say goodbye to everyone. Both the Holmes and Baker families had time together. We'll be back but not till late Spring. It was so fun seeing everyone. Sad to think we will be away till May.

Kings Valley, OR - work time!

After we left Fort Stevens, We headed south to Kings Valley to help Ted pour some concrete floors in dog runs. Chris headed to Portland for a few days to spend time with her family. The concrete turned out pretty good but somehow concrete seems to have become much heavier than when I was 20 yrs old. Must be some kind of global vortex causing that.
A trackhoe sure made the early prep easier
Add some forms and a little gravel!

Pouring the floor was a lot of work
11 yards of concrete later and tada!

Time for a beer and an Aleve

Not bad for a bunch of amateurs

Almost ready to leave

Fort Stevens State Park

We left Bremerton and headed south to Fort Stevens State park for a visit with our friends Don and Gail who are interpretive hosts there. It was a relaxing time to catch up, visit local dining establishments and eat oysters.  We got to try our skills at kayaking on Coffinbury lake under the tutelage of Don and Gail.  Too bad we didn't take a camera!  Weather was stellar at the beach this week.

Don bought a bag full to bring back to camp for a BBQ

North To Bremerton Sept 1,2016

Before heading south for the big adventure we wanted to spend a few days with Ian, Lindsay and family in Bremerton. We BBQ'd, visited and spent time on the waterfront for the blackberry festival.
Honked and waved at Joyce as we passed her exit.
